Companies that make food (or almost anything tbh) seem to be doing all they can to make foods more expensive, while using less money. Therefore, we have all this crap that goes into our food. There are always news articles and stuff about obesity in America, yet our food system still continues to get worse because many folks are just in it for the money. There are some stores that sell healthy foods, and lots of (usually small) restaurants that serve tasty and healthy food, but consumers usually ignore them and their health for the sake of convenience or budget, only adding to the problem (can't do much about a limited budget of course, but it still fuels the problem).

This is why I prefer cooking at home when I have the time. My food is as good as I can make it, and if I get ingredients from the right place (there's a farmer's market in my town every weekend), I can ensure my meals are healthy and provide the right nutrients.
